Simple = good

Last night the Rock ‘Ard youth group (12-16 year olds) went to a local driving range to hit golf balls, and they loved it. We have done it a couple of times and it is such a simple trip. It is local enough that parents can provide the transport for their children, it is cheap (no more than £5, and this time was paid for through the Youth Opportunity Fund money that the youngsters were awarded earlier in the year), it is easy for the leaders to organise, and it is fun, they enjoy the simplicity of hitting things hard, and if feeling brave trying to aim at particular points.
Sometimes in children’s and youth work we get obsessed with trying to do the biggest and the best activity, and yet often it is the simple things that are enjoyed the most. Certainly something to remember as we begin to plan for the autumn term.
