Some quick thoughts on tonight’s game:
- Spain deserve to go through – it was a win for attacking football, rather than the mundane defending the Italians highlighted.
- It had the potential to be a great match, but as so often happens, it turned out to be a boring match. The Italians weren’t interested in attacking, and Spain couldn’t break them down.
- Iker Casillas was on form today – trying to rival Buffon for top keeper in the world. He made an awesome save in the match, and then his work in the penalty shootout put Spain through.
