- US tycoon’s ‘$8bn to dog welfare’ – The late US real estate tycoon Leona Helmsley reportedly wanted her estimated $8bn fortune spent on dogs.
- Woman stranded in cat rescue bid – A woman who climbed 20ft up a tree to help a trapped cat is rescued by firefighters after getting herself stuck.
- Speeders to pay for police chases – A police force in a US town adds $12 to fines for offending motorists to offset high fuel costs of chasing them down.
- Bishop ordains wife at cathedral – The Bishop of Manchester, the Right Reverend Nigel McCulloch, ordains his wife at Manchester Cathedral.
- ‘Entire life’ sold for £192,000 – A ex pat agrees a bid of more than £192,000 for his “entire life” which he put up for sale on the internet.
- Birthday party snub sparks debate – An eight-year-old boy causes a controversy in Sweden by failing to invite two of his classmates to his birthday party. The boy’s school says he has violated the children’s rights and has complained to the Swedish Parliament.
