50 Reasons to Buy Fair Trade was a disappointing read. It has a really good simple structure, a book outlining reasons on why fair-trade rather than ‘free trade’ is the best option. I read this book in preparation for running a fair-trade day in a local secondary school and found I was frustrated by how some of the reasons just aren’t reasons, for example, make your town a fairtrade town is not a reason to buy fair trade. Some of the others, for example make trade more democratic are great reasons, but it did seem to be stretching. It left me wondering if the book would have been titled ’25 Reasons and 25 Results of Fair Trade’.
You’ll get things from the book but it wasn’t top level.
