Just finished Church Unlimited: Youth Work and Mission Today by Nick Shepherd and Jonathan Brant and absolutely loved it. It was great to read a book based on testimony, on story, on practice rather than a book full of formulaic answers. What made it even more exciting was it is a book focusesd on the UK, a book that talks about youth work I can relate to, youth work that is similar to what I have done or am doing.
The book tells the story of 13 different people and/or ministries and how they are doing ‘church’ in the 21st century – some of their successes and some of their struggles. My only criticism was that it seemed to be very focussed on urban settings, and there didn’t seem to be loads on working within a suburban let alone a rural setting – only a minor point though.
If you were given it at the last Youthwork Conference, find it and read it; if you weren’t go get a copy of it.
wow, this one is good, gonna use for another sport but i think it’ll be just as good, BIG thanks 🙂
