My favourite wifeI enjoyed reading My Favourite Wife by Tony Parsons, it was a book I found hard to put down, which is always a good sign in a book you read.  A number of people have slagged this book as not being worth reading, but I found it a challenging read – it takes the culture of China (which read in the light of last year’s Olympics is very worthwhile) and looks at the value of love, what makes a relationship succeed.

Parsons continues his style of commenting on the family – but this time it isn’t just about the immediate family but also about elderly parents and what it means to have family spread across the world.  The book doesn’t leave you with a happy feeling, but it challenges the way we impose our culture on other cultures, and the way relationships unfold.
