Having read the Church Leader’s Handbook which was also edited Harold Rowdon it was with interest that I picked up Serving God’s People – Re-thinking Christian Ministry Today. The book takes a similar format with 19 essays from a range of contributors including John Baigent, Neil Summerton, John Allan, Victor Jack and Gord Martin which is split into four sections:
- What is ministry?
- Some forms of ministry
- Caring for ministers
- Finding and keeping ministers
Whilst the book at times is very conservative in its outlook and theology (coming from mainly ex-Brethren churches) it is a useful reference tool to partner with the previous Church Leaders Handbook – this focuses more narrowly on the key ministries and ministers of a local church.
