When Leadership and Discipleship Collide is a Bill Hybels addition to the Leadership Library, and one that is well worth a read. At only 68 small pages it isn’t a challenge to sit and read in one go, particularly given Hybels easy writing style.
The gist of the book is that Hybels show examples of when Jesus breaks classic business principles, e.g. Keeping momentum, and why he did it that way. In the second half he goes on to show ways in which he has got it right (and wrong) going against the laws of business and leadership. His key point is:
When the demands of discipleship articulated in the Bible collide with human laws of leadership, read my lips: Defer to the Bible
Very straightforward but some big things to go away and think about.
