I love this blog post, some great challenges for me to be thinking over: You can’t have success unless you’re prepared to have failure. As soon as you say, “failure is not an option,” you’ve just said, “innovation is not an option.”

The Death of Osama bin Laden
Posted in News, Reflection on May 2, 2011 | 2 Comments »
This morning all the news was about Osama Bin Laden’s death. I’ve been surprised by the range of reactions exhibited around the world. Some of my random thoughts: Justice: Bin Laden has killed thousands of people, he deserved to be brought to justice, his actions had consequences. Safer: in theory the world should be a [...]

Tonight in our evening service we wrapped our series “Greater …” by looking at the theme doubt. As I was preparing to lead the service I discovered this beautiful quote from Frederick Buechner: Whether your faith is that there is a God or that there is not a God, if you don’t have any doubts [...]

Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi Lord, make me an instrument of your peace; where there is hatred, let me sow love; when there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy. Grant that I may not so much [...]

It’s Thursday, it’s my day off, it’s time to do nothing for 2 minutes, let your mind wander to God, chill out, and then hit your to-do list:
Quality Time

I often hear people talking about quality time and how it is all about the quality – especially in regards to family and friends. I understand why they do that but I think it ignores the sense in which quality in a relationship normally only comes from spending large amounts of time together. Sure you [...]
If …

Lots of questions whizzing around my head at the moment make this poem very appropriate: If you can keep your head when all about you Are losing theirs and blaming it on you, If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, But make allowance for their doubting too; If you can wait and [...]
Hudson Taylor

I’ve recently been reading J. Hudson Taylor: A Man in Christ (Missionary Life Stories) by Roger Steer. A couple of thoughts so far: It’s been an inspiring read to hear of Taylor’s focus on going to China as a missionary – once he’d sensed God’s calling on his life he did everything in his power [...]
