A DCSF-funded scheme giving pupils free access to thousands of films through after-school clubs is to be rolled out across the UK after a successful pilot. Over the next three years, Filmclub will be expanded to reach 7,000 schools. Students and teachers can, via an interactive website, select from up to 60,000 titles, of which 1,500 are arranged in special seasons aimed at young people.
As well as screenings in schools, Filmclub also arranges visits by actors, directors and set designers. Teachers receive advice on how to select the best fi lms and transform their classroom into a cinema.
