Liverpool beat Fulham

Liverpool moved up to eighth in the Barclays Premier League with a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Fulham.

Centre back Martin Skrtel handed Liverpool the lead with a fantastic volley following a corner before Skipper Steven Gerrard doubled the advantage, finding the net from a brilliant Stewart Downing’s through ball. Winger Stewart Downing extended the Reds lead by cutting into the box and drilling a fearsome shot to the net in the early stages of the second half. Suarez grabbed a late goal after Enrique’s brilliant work on the flanks which merited Suarez with a close range tap in.

Rodgers said:

“I thought we were outstanding today.  I knew we would get a reaction because I have very honest players here, working very hard every day.”

“Last week was disappointing but this week we have had our first clear week of work and we have worked through from Saturday to Saturday. And I think you saw the reaction today. The pressing was outstanding and the quality of the football and the goals was brilliant.”

The win moves Liverpool to eighth place in the league table and to within five points of third-placed Arsenal.
