It’s been manic over the last couple of weeks so I’ve struggled to blog consistently and not done the Monday Update, partly due to not having internet at home anymore.

The weekend that was: Friday night was Brigades.  The older groups went ten pin bowling for the night.  It was great to have a nice social night out, although we again seemed slightly smaller in number, our 14-18s group seems to be struggling a bit for consistency as so many parties clash with the Friday night.

Saturday I drove down to Exeter.  Belmont Chapel was celebrating 10 years of the Contact Scheme, their year-out scheme, which I was part of in 2004-2005.  Lovely to see old familiar faces, and see how the church has been going.  Really enjoyed staying with the Hughes family, always a pleasure to stay with them.

Sunday I was at two morning services for Belmont, and then drove back to Kent.  I certainly felt how much driving I had done over the weekend.  Finished preparing my evening session, and then led Senior SNR our 14-18s Sunday group.  They were starting a new series on evangelism.  Great to look at how we evangelise through our friendships.  For me this is one of the key topics we teach on, young people need to know the basics of faith, understanding and use their gifting, and know how to share their faith.  It was a good session but one that I felt had room for improvement in.  We ended by encouraging them to pray for 5 of their non-Christian friends, and to look for opportunities to share faith with those friends.  I’m really praying that they rise to that challenge.

On my to-do list this week: A funding bid for developing our youth room, and speaking on Sunday night.  Otherwise lots of time off: including cooking, DVDs with Hannah, finishing West Wing, and maybe a cycle ride or two.

Procrastinating about: Paperwork, I’ve got a lot of meetings at the moment so it is easy to let preparation and study get left behind.

Book I’m in the midst of: With a few days off I’m hoping to finish the pile of partially started books.  Lots of reviews to come.

Music that I’ve been working along to: iTunes is back up and sorted, and I’m loving Texas’ ‘The Greatest Hits’.

How i’m feeling about this week: Nervous about the bid, excited about rest.

  1. Greetings Mr. Kidd!
I hope you enjoy the conference, and return refreshed and inspired. I’m doing some work for a pr firm, compiling a blogosphere media list for a christian publisher here in the states. We’d like to add you. In order to receive advance copies of Youth Ministry resources, we need a mailing address.

    Cheers,
