I want to start something that Marko regularly does; on Mondays I’m going to post a brief recap of the weekend, and a look ahead to the week I’ve got coming up, starting right now:

The weekend that was: Friday night was a training session for our Brigade leaders.  Paul and I co-taught on child and faith development – a really crucial issue if we are to understand how to run devotions properly.

Following this Hannah and I travelled to Essex to spend Saturday, with a massive hand from our family, sorting out our house that we’re trying to sell, and bringing stash loads of stuff back to keep us going in Kent.  The day ended with me setting off the alarm at work – always good!

This weekend was our first Sunday back with the youth work this academic year.  The morning I taught about David, using Old School Good Guys from Simply Youth, which was a great time.  What was really exciting was to see the depth of faith that the new year 7s already have.  It’s looking like it could be a great year for them.

We had a great lunch at the Aldridges, followed by a cell leaders meeting with some really interesting ideas, especially over whether we should have a curriculum library of topics we want to teach our 11-18 year olds during their time in the youth ministry.

The evening saw the restart of Junior SNR (11-14 year olds) this was a tougher group, and partly the fact I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, and partly my limited preparation meant it was hard work.  A good group but one that is about perseverance.

On my to-do list this week: I need to write some profiles for various bits that go out to the community, we have our leadership team meeting tonight, and there are various events (town-wide youth Alpha) and trips (Tim Hughes gig, Delirious gig, and The Stand) that require more work.

Procrastinating about: We got a whole load of filing done on Friday, I just need to sort all the things left that require actions in to some kind of list and then do them!

Book I’m in the midst of: Youth Culture by Walt Mueller.  Looks a good read – I just need to sit and make space for it.

Music that I’ve been working along to: I’ve loved getting back into Donavon Frankenreiter this last week.

How i’m feeling about this week: A need to get organised.
