We had a great church prayer meeting on Wednesday evening, with our focus on evangelism. There was a real sense of encouragement to share our faith with those around us. We were aware that so often churches grow purely due to transfers of members from other churches, and yet what we want to see is new converts joining ours, and other churches.

For me personally, it was a great timing as it followed the start of a town-wide youth alpha. 26 young people got together at Carroty Wood and spent the first hour climbing or abseiling and then the next hour looking at who Jesus was. It was great to hear their thoughts, especially on what Jesus looked like. My hope is that in a few weeks time they will have all had life changing encounters with God. We will have some excited new young converts.

  1. We came up with a set of simple rules which all came under the heading of RESPECT! After three weeks, we gave the young people a chance to review and change them. They liked them and told us to enforce them more strictly! I don’t seem to have a copy of them anywhere, but if I remember they were – listen to each other and leaders, do as you are asked by a leader, violence and agressive behaviour is not acceptable. Something like that anyway! As for who is responsible for them when, I regularly remind the parents of this in letters and when I see them if there’s an issue.
