I’ve written before about writing thank you cards to volunteers.  Alongside that we try and write regularly to each of our young people, especially if we don’t see them for a week or two.

I saw a variation on this over at YouthMinistrySupport.com.  Scott suggests getting young people to write to their own peers:

One activity we gave them during their solo times was to take two postcards and write something encouraging on them. One had to be to someone that was on the retreat and one had to be to someone that wasn’t on the retreat but is in our ministry.

Their instructions were to write to someone they think could really use an encouraging postscard. What we got back was 20+ postcards that I mailed out last week to students in my ministry written by students for students. There’s nothing more encouraging then a postcard from a peer that says, “you’re awesome”.
