Liverpool Boss Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that teenage sensation, Raheem Sterling is set to sign a new contract with Liverpool Football Club in the next 24 hours.
According to reports, Sterling who turned 18 earlier this month has agreed on a five year deal with the club. The 18 year old currently earns in the region of £2,000-per-week, but the new deal is believed to earn him a staggering £40,000 a week.
Sterling moved to Liverpool from QPR as a 15-year-old in February 2010 on a deal which still has 18 months to run.
“Hopefully the deal will be concluded in the next 24 hours. There were never any issues. I was always calm. I had spoken with Raheem and his representatives. There was never any issue from their side either. It was not just about finance. This is a young player who has rocketed from Liverpool’s reserves to England’s first team. I have always been of the belief that this would be best for him. Once we get everything concluded we can start the next progress of his development. It is important to have a core of young British talent.”
