One of my volunteers rang me on Monday night encouraging me to watch the Sex Education Show vs Pornography on Channel 4 this week (Check out their website here.)
I’ve caught glimpses of the show every night and whilst in one sense this is very real, very hardcore, a lot of nudity and graphic information. It isn’t just gratuious nudity to attract viewers. There are three real purposes behind it: firslty, they’re challenging the sexual meltdown that the UK is in, arguing against the sexualisation of the media and high street: and secondly, the easy accessibility of porn over the internet; and lastly, challenging the quality of sex education.
I’d be really interested in having an event like this in our local secondary schools, but then I feel the tension with the message of abstinence that we focus on within churches.
What does anyone else think of the show and the tension church youth workers have?
