At the moment youth ministry in one sense is very quiet, there isn’t much face-to-face ministry that happens during the summer holidays, to such a degree that I’m helping with Club Sunday, Tonbridge Baptist Church’s big sunday school group for children this week!

However there is a lot of planning going on.  At the moment I’m working on three big areas:

  • Summer camp – we are off to Porthpean in ten days.  I spent most of this morning working through a couple of the evening sessions.  This time, fitting in with the year theme of Life Max – Living Life to the Max, we are studying Ephesians 6, and the Armour of God.  More to follow later on that.
  • Autumn programmes – I’m trying to get everything together for the autumn before I leave for camp – so that means the programme, rotas, information for leaders, letter and consent forms for parents – lots of admin!
  • Youth branding – we’re in the middle of reviewing how we brand the youth work and the youth team at TBC.  Jamie has done some great work on a new cool logo that we’ll be using a little bit at summer camp as a preview, and fully launch around October half-term.  This has wider consequences as we look at trying to bring all the different aspects of TBC’s youth work more consistently under the banner of ‘Life Changing Encounters with Jesus’, e.g. website, the way we communicate with young people and parents.
Married to the amazing Sarah and raising Jakey, Daniel, Amelia, Josh & Jonah in our blended family. Passionate for Jesus, social work & sport.

  1. Back to baasics, Chris. Identify with Jesus who banged His head against the wall a lot, I’d wager. A servant is not greater than his master! Small comfort, I know, but there really is a plan; your part is to walk in it as you receive light and direction. Jer. 29:11 God bless you.
