I love this infographic from Adam McLane which highlights the critical issue in the church.  Youth ministry (or any other ministry) can not be about one person.  It doesn’t work that way.  There’s too much for each person.

As it says, in the USA, each church can’t reach the 427 10-19 year olds with 1 paid youth worker, and yet that is the expectation so many times – and something youth workers are often guilty of encouraging.

In the UK there are approx. 5.4 million teenagers today, with approximately 8,000 youth workers employed by churches etc. so our statistic would be even higher at a ratio of 1 to 675 young people!

Simply put one person can’t (or shouldn’t) do it ALL!

Thought the article was great! Would love to hear what you think Children NEED when their come to church to see how it would be different. I agree we the want but think they are also balanced by the child\\\’s needs, what do you think?

    Happy New Year

    1. That’s a really good point Andy – I’ll chew that over and maybe write something on that in the next few days as some of the needs must be a little different.
