For the last six weeks we have been running a town-wide youth alpha for 11-14 year olds based at Carroty Wood. Sure, we haven’t got it all right – I certainly look back and realise my session needed to be more interactive. But forgetting the micro-evaluation that needs to happen it was a great event: churches came together and shared the gospel with 26 young people, of whom approximately a third made some kind of step in faith. That is really exciting.
I’ve also loved the generosity and helpfulness of Claire and the Carroty Wood team – they’ve put it all on so that each night the young people get to do an activity (swimming, the famous low-ropes course, the high-ropes challenges, pedal karting, orienteering and the maze, and climbing/abseiling) all for £1 per person per week. The young people have loved the chance to try the different activities, and to see them related to key parts of the gospel.
I hope and look forward to this being repeated again and again.
