This new edition of Lee and Baz’s book Cut to the Chase: Visual Edition isn’t just a book to read but a visual spectacle for any bloke to enjoy. Lloyd Kinsley has done a fantastic job with the re-design.
It’s designed so you can read it all the way through (as I did on the plane to South Africa) or read it in little sections or just drop in and out as you wish. At 183 pages it feels a good size but don’t fear because many of the pages are filled with large priceless quotes and pearls of wisdom. Whenever I find something I want to re-read in a book I mark it with a line down the size and fold over the top of the page – my copy of this book has an awful lot of pencil markings and folded down pages.
Without giving away the whole book some big themes that jumped out at me was a need for reality, honesty and increased communication (maybe even accountability). Being a guy in the 21st century is full of challenges, mixed emotions, temptations and peer pressure. Baz and Lee try to challenge the norm and dream of a new reality for guys in the church.
I’m going to be passing my copy around some of the guys I hang out with and hearing their thoughts on this and how we can grow better together.
