As part of my time off I was lent a copy of Jesus’ Day Off by Nicholas Allan. Whilst a children’s book it is deeply profound. It takes the concept of Jesus being tried, and not sure what to do. He’s guided by his doctor to take a day off, to rest and enjoy the sunshine. He does this but feels guilty at the end, and so goes to speak to his dad, who reminds him that:
When you’re feeling better yourself, you can only make others feel better too.
As usual Nicholas Allen’s illustrations are fantastic, this book can be enjoyed on so many levels, but at the start of my enforced rest was an essential read.
