I have a more than mild interest in politics, having been very involved as a student in my student union.  Remarkably I’ve never managed to sit and read Jonthan Aitken’s biography Pride and Perjury although I’ve met him before, and heard much of his story.  This book is his side of the story, explaining the mistakes he made, especially in his stay at the Ritz Hotel in Paris, and the following libel action and trial for perjury and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

This highlighly successful MP, who was tipped to be a potential leader of the Conservative Party, was suddenly bankrupt, divorced and in prison.  The book is his account of this, and his growth in faith.

  1. Chris,

It was a scintillating year and a pleasure to be able to share it with you as such. Proof that doors open – if you knock on them.
