I loved this concept, a mini World Cup for Street Kids, ran from the 15th – 22nd of March in Durban. Hosted by Umthombo Street Children, a South African organisation primarily run by former street children, and Durban University of Technology, in partnership with the Ethekwini Municipality, teams from Central and South America, Africa, Asia and Europe took part in the Deloitte Street Child World Cup.
The boys from the Indian team called the Youth Football Club (YFC) from Rurka Kalan, a small village in Jalandhar (Punjab – India) won – beating Tanzania 1-0 in the finals. Check out here for more info.
