The weekend that was: Friday was a really good night at Brigades, we’re seeing a lot of the new young people really settle in the groups which is great. Saturday was a mixture of working on putting everything back into our kitchen, going to an NCT sale for more baby stuff, and having a wonderful dinner out at old university friends who we hadn’t seen for 5 years, but recently realised they live 15 minutes drive from us.
Sunday included:
- being part of a great session that Janet one of our volunteers did on the Greatest Commandments that Jesus speaks about in the gospels at R’n’R (our 11-14 yr olds) – it reminded me why I wanted to work here.
- setting up for SNR in the main church, as the adults were at a town-wide event.
- hearing Jan speak so passionately on the topic of prayer.
On my task list this week: Writing material for a weekend away, starting to plan another weekend away, seeing the youth cafe build finally start, helping prepare for our Boys’ Brigade 50th anniversary, and a number of pastoral meetings with young people.
Procrastinating about: Finalising plans for November and December in the diary.
Book I’m in the midst of: Still reading No Well-worn Paths by Terry Virgo – such a challenging read.
Music that I’ve been working along to: Back to the great Kings of Leon recently.
How I’m feeling about this week: Excited to see our youth cafe build finally start, but nervous of making it happen the correct way.
