The weekend that was: We had a range of different activities happening on Friday night with Comic Relief. For our teenagers they mainly focussed on the Love Food, Hate Waste campaign, which included the chance to make a pizza – something that always goes down well. We also had some of our 14-18s out at the How Jesus Worships Tour.

Saturday was a trip into London with a few young people to go to the Worship Central training day at Westminster Central Hall. It was a good day, even for a non-musician like myself, and certainly seemed to encourage all kinds of ideas in the young people. Pete Greig spoke very passionately in the evening on the link between worship and prayer which was very helpful.

R’n’R (our 11-14 year olds) spent Sunday morning serving: so they baked lots of cakes to give out to people who use the church building, started preparing the youth room for the refurbishment work which will hopefully happen in the next two months, and did various bits of filing and sorting in my office.

In the evening Junior SNR (our 11-14 year olds) spent time looking at what it means to be community. We’ve started using the RS2 material which I am really pleased with, and certainly makes preparing each week more straightforward. For Senior SNR (our 14-18 year olds) we decided to postpone the teaching we had planned, and do a night of prayer and praise led by two of the young people who were at the Worship Central event.

On my task list this week: On a First Aid at Work refresher course on Monday and Tuesday, Wednesday is a planning day for our weekend away in May, and Thursday and Friday see a number of meetings and a trip into school booked in.  Looks a fun but tiring week.

Procrastinating about: Nothing much, just trying to fit everything in at the moment.

Book I’m in the midst of: Just finished reading Billy, looking forward to exploring Sacred Space: A Hands-on Guide to Creating Multi Sensory Worship Experiences and Youth Work After Christendom.

Music that I’ve been working along to: Back to Kings of Leon.

How I’m feeling about this week: Nervous about the First Aid Course I’m on, always new stuff to learn, and days listening to gory details.
