I had the priviledge of taking 14 young lads to England v France last night.  Here are some of the highlights from the game:

We failed to get there on time due to horrendous traffic, by the time we arrived, France were already 1-0 up thanks to Karim Benzema.  During the first half France seemed to be in nearly complete control.

The second half some lots of changes with Micah Richards, Ashley Young, and Adam Johnson all coming on.  Although there was more attacking football it still didn’t really look like we wanted to win the game.  To make the situation worse Bakary Sagna made another one of his runs down the right before curling a cross that Mathieu Valbuena was able to stick past Ben Foster.

It was left to Peter Crouch, England’s current greatest goal scoring machine coming on for the injured Steven Gerrard to pull a goal back. England had a spell for the next few minutes with Hugo Lloris looking unsettled for an equaliser but the clock ran out.  If Crouch had come on earlier we might have stood a chance.

I was surprised at how good the view of the pitch was, but saddened at how quiet it was – very little chanting or songs.  However, the guys we took loved the evening and that was what it was all about.
