1. It is hard to take seriously the start of a new season with the Olympics still on.  Super Saturday for Team GB kind of competed with the opening games.
  2. Spurs are looking weak, but not as weak as Stoke, who will finish bottom of the league.
  3. Wenger has found a great player in Nasri.
  4. Villa were on form, and Ashley Young looks rampant, put in some brilliant crosses and generally caused City’s defence all sorts of trouble, and best of all, he’s in my fantasy football team.
  5. Hull played well, and if they manage to keep it up could be in with a shout of staying up.
  6. Liverpool were average, again it was Torres who made the difference.  Sunderland, however, looked a better side than last season and passed it around very nicely at times.
  7. The Everton v Blackburn game wrecked my fantasy football team, with defenders from both sides I took a big hit – let’s hope that changes.  On the plus side it was good to see Paul Ince answer all those who were saying the players were unhappy with him, with a good away win.
  8. Big Phil Scolari couldn’t have asked for a better start to his Chelsea career.  Four goals, a stylish team performance (the midfield was particularly impressive), and all done without Didier Drogba and Michael Essien.
