Now that Peter Crouch is definitely leaving, I think Benitez will need another decent striker.  We have Dirk Kuyt, Ryan Babel, Andriy Voronin and Steven Gerrard as potential strike partners for main man Fernando Torres, none of whom are real quality classic strikers.

Top of the list must be Valencia’s David Villa, top scorer at Euro 2008 and a player who clearly links up well with Torres.  But Benitez admits that it could be tricky luring the Spanish hitman to England; according to reports, Villa would prefer to stay in Spain.

If Villa is not a realistic option, then who else?

Robbie Keane, a boyhood Liverpool fan, has also been mentioned as a possible Anfield arrival.  He is only 28 and played well last season, but I can’t see Spurs letting him go, especially after they unwisely let Jermain Defoe go to Portsmouth, and is he really the man for the job.

Another player mentioned has been Barcelona’s Samuel Eto’o, who has made it clear that he wants to leave the Camp Nou.  I would argue that he is too similar to Torres, and whilst he is a fantastic player he lacks consistency.

Someone who I would be interested to see come to Anfield is Santa Cruz, Blackburn’s awesome striker.  He always seems to do well near goal, and goes back to the mould of a striker, like Rush, Fowler and Owen, who could be relied upon to get us goals.

Who would you sign to replace Crouch?
